This EducationWeek article by Sarah Schwartz features Success Bound ambassador Stephanie Miller-Henderson. Stephanie is a school counselor at Smyth Elementary School in Chicago, and she taught 6th graders the importance of understanding how grades are calculated. Through her lesson, part of the Success Bound program, she clarified the difference between “missing” and “excused” assignments and emphasized how these designations impact final grades. Success Bound aims to help students set future goals and develop essential life skills. By encouraging students to envision their future selves and connect their current education to their aspirations, the program supports academic and personal growth, especially for students from low-income backgrounds.
