Timeline
Success Bound (formerly called 6to16) was created in Chicago by a group of educators, in partnership with researchers, to support 36 CPS schools. Since its inception a decade ago, Success Bound has grown to support schools, districts, and organizations across the United States in preparing middle school students to pursue thriving futures.
2024-2025
- Success Bound launches as a non-profit organization separate from the Lefkofsky Family Foundation
- Success Bound partners with the YMCA
- Expands to Indianapolis Public Schools (Indiana)
- 336 Success Bound schools and counting
2023-2024
- CPS Success Bound launches in Chicago Public Schools
- Success Bound relaunches with enhanced content and deeper alignment to social and emotional learning skills
- Expands to Aurora Public Schools (Colorado)
2022-2023
- Chicago Success Bound schools show student GPA growth at a higher rate than those not using Success Bound
2021-2022
- Success Bound rebrands and launches a website to house the curriculum and supporting materials
- Partners with Chicago Public Schools to develop a college and career aligned curriculum for grades 6-12
2020-2021
- American Institute of Research sees early signs of success with Success Bound
2019-2020
- Success Bound transitions professional learning and curriculum online for flexibility during the start of COVID, creating a community for Chicago School Counselors navigating virtual learning
2018-2019
- 6to16 is relaunched as Success Bound, an initiative of the Lefkofsky Family Foundation in partnership with Chicago Public Schools
2014-2017
- The Lefkofsky Family Foundation partners with the University of Chicago to develop and pilot the 6to16 curriculum in Chicago Public Schools
